Jimmy Adams is President of The Adams Companies, celebrating its 114th year in business. The company’s origins in moving and storage led to a diversification into records management, industrial storage, bonded warehousing and industrial development now totaling in excess of 1.7 million square feet. The company has twice been recognized as Georgia’s Family Business of the Year.
Jimmy was the founder and President of Adams Data Management, a 1984 expansion of Adams Transfer & Storage Company, the oldest moving company in the southeast where he also serves as President. During his tenure, Adams Data Management grew to be the largest independent records management company in Georgia and was recently acquired by Access Information Services, the third largest provider of records management services globally.
Adams Transfer & Storage continues to be one of Georgia’s leading office moving companies and a proven innovator in the computerized tracking of offsite industrial and business storage through its Asset Inventory Management Warehouses in Atlanta and Gainesville.
He is a native of Gainesville and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1983 where he received his BBA in Transportation / Physical Distribution. After graduation he returned to manage the family business.
Throughout his business career Jimmy has been active in improving his community and industry. He has served: as Chairman of The National Records Centers; Chairman of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Gainesville-Hall County Economic Development Council; on the boards of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, currently serving as Region 2 Chairman; PRISM (the records management international industry association); Chattahoochee Bank of Georgia; Regions Bank of Gainesville; Gainesville-Hall County Development Authority, Chattahoochee Country Club, Gainesville Rotary Club, Gainesville Jaycees, March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
The Gainesville Jaycees recognized Jimmy as the 1995 Young Man of the Year. He was a member of the 1992 class of Leadership Georgia and the 1989 class of Leadership Hall County.
He and his wife Betsy have two sons, Walker and Charlie.
